Peasant Fortress
The Prejmer Peasant Fortress, which houses the local Fortified Church, is one of the best preserved fortifications in Europe and the oldest historical monument in Brasov. The Teutonic Knights began building the Gothic-style fortress in 1211 and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress is in the shape of a circle surrounding the Evangelical Church, with walls 12 metres high and 3-4 metres thick.
